Performance Tools

Performance tools designed to help cyclists better understand, monitor, and optimise their training, recovery, and race preparation. Built using evidence-based principles and real-world coaching experience, these tools provide practical insights that can be applied directly to performance.

Our first tool, the Sweat Rate Calculator, helps athletes quantify fluid losses during training and heat sessions to better inform hydration and heat adaptation strategies. More performance tools and calculators will be added over time.

Heat Training

Heat training may improve endurance performance through adaptations including increased plasma volume, improved thermoregulation, and potentially increased haemoglobin mass (Hbmass) and oxygen-carrying capacity. When applied correctly, heat training can be a powerful tool for endurance athletes preparing for competition in both hot and temperate environments.

One method used to increase heat stress during sessions is controlled dehydration. Research suggests that active heat training sessions resulting in approximately ~2–2.5% body mass loss may help provide sufficient thermal and cardiovascular strain to stimulate adaptation. This sweat loss calculator helps athletes quantify fluid losses during training sessions, to ensure the right level of thermal stress.
